Kids Can Fly is a registered charity that supports early learning and parenting. We were founded in 2001 and celebrated our 10th Anniversary in 2011.
We received our charitable status in 2003 and became a United Way Member Agency in 2008. Other than the United Way funding Kids Can Fly raises all of our own money to provide our programs and services, locally. The mandate of Kids Can Fly is to help ALL children maximize their potential. We base what we do on the research of the late Dr. Fraser Mustard.
This foundation of this research is that a baby’s brain is only 20% wired at birth and their experiences (or lack thereof) during the first six years of life set the stage for lifelong learning, health and well being. We also believe that parents are a child’s first and most important teachers and therefore we strive to help provide nurturing and learning for parents so they can do the very best job possible.
Kids Can Fly likes to be considered a catalyst to help bring about change, fill gaps as they appear and to advocate for children and Families.
“Every dollar invested in quality early learning programs will save society $17, in the future.” The World Bank.
Kids Can Fly will act as a catalyst for positive change in the promotion of early childhood development in Brant. It will focus its activities on being an advocate for children from prenatal to 6 years and parenting. In addition, it will seek, to ensure early learning and growth opportunities, to support ALL children in our community.
Kids Can Fly is an independent initiative, based on the research of the 1999 Early Years Study, Mustard-McCain & The Early Years-Three Years Later. Mustard-McCain
