Kids Can Fly is excited to announce that the fall session of Beacon is underway! This FREE, play-based program for dads and their babies runs until Saturday, November 22nd, offering a welcoming space for fathers to connect, share experiences, and navigate the rewarding—and sometimes challenging—early days of parenthood.
Hosted by program facilitator and local dad Ben Strasser, each session also features Doug Daniel, a retired grade 2 teacher, who leads a music time for dads and babies to bond. Together, they provide opportunities for connection, play, and learning that support fathers in their essential role.
For new dad Steven Roach of Hamilton, Beacon has been a game changer. Steven attended the spring session and even dropped by during the summer. “It’s nice to have good conversations with other dads about being a new dad, and the experience overall,” he shares. Steven’s son Jack, now 10 months old, has grown right alongside the program.
“When we first came, Jack couldn’t even sit up. Now he’s crawling and playing with the other children. This is the only program specifically for dads that I’ve ever heard of. I look forward it each week.” — Steven Roach
The fall session of Beacon takes place Saturday mornings, from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at the Brantford Public Library, Main Branch (173 Colborne St., Brantford).
Over the Beacon sessions, dads explore their essential role in nurturing their child’s emotional development and building strong, lasting bonds. Through play, conversation, and support from fellow fathers, participants gain confidence, clarity, and practical strategies to embrace fatherhood with joy.
Beacon is free to join, but space is limited. Fathers with babies aged 2 to 15 months are encouraged to register at www.kidscanfly.ca/beacon
