On Labour Day each year, children find the parking lot of Dairee Delite (10 King George Rd, Brantford) filled with superheroes!
Who are these superheroes? Our local first responders, of course! Children meet and mingle with first responders in uniform at this community-oriented event. Fire trucks, police cars, and ambulances are usually on-site as well!
In addition to first responders, this popular event features other well-known superheroes, such as Batman, Spider-Man, Wonder Woman, and more.
Last year marked the 10th anniversary of this amazing event, which was made possible by the unwavering support of our local community members, families, and supporters of Kids Can Fly.
To date, this much-loved event has raised over $25,000!
“Each year, we look forward to our partnership with other local organizations to support Kids Can Fly. I love seeing families who make this event an end-of-summer tradition. It truly is a delightful community event that brings families together.” —Dairee Delite owner Sarah Disher-Neddow
Children, many of whom come dressed as their favorite characters, are usually thrilled to meet real-life superheroes from the Brantford Police Association, Brantford Fire Department, and Brant County Paramedics. The day is filled with excitement as everyone enjoys specialty sundaes, a BBQ, games, face painting, a story tent, and a collection of favourite comic book characters.
All of this is done to raise funds for Kids Can Fly, which offers our community children’s literacy and parental support programs. Thanks to your support, these programs are making a real difference in our children’s lives.
In 2024, come on out for Superhero Day on Monday, September 2nd from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM. To find out more about Kids Can Fly, browse our website or social media.
