Kids Can Fly is thrilled to share that Canada Post Community Foundation has awarded Kids Can Fly with $10,000 in funding for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in Brantford and Brant County.
“This funding is so helpful! With thousands of children enrolled in the program just in Brantford and Brant County, we need all the help we can get. This money will help us to send out approximately 2,700 books to children in the region,” says Becca McLellan, executive director at Kids Can Fly.
The Canada Post Community Foundation’s mission is to make a positive impact in the lives of Canadian children. By supporting local registered charities, initiatives, and school programs, they hope to strengthen communities for all Canadians.
The Foundation has granted $14.8 million to more than 1,300 community projects nationwide since 2012.
Jarrett Smith, who works for Canada Post, shared about the investment. “It’s important that we invest in our own communities and look after our children. That’s the future. Anything that we can do to help them out, give them advantages—we want to do that. That extends through our retail stores and outlets. It’s through the involvement of retail stores and employees who are making those connections to the community.”
Kids Can Fly board member, Caitlin Turner, shared about her personal love for the program: “I have two little boys and they love checking the mail. Who wouldn’t love the Imagination Library? It’s books for kids!”
Kids Can Fly gratefully acknowledged the funding at a cheque presentation at the downtown Brantford Canada Post retail outlet. Present were Becca McLellan, executive director, and board of directors members, Caitlin Turner and Raj Bale. Also present was Jarrett Smith, Dee Hough, and Susana Ovejas of Canada Post, as well as Milan Novakovic of MPP Will Bouma’s office, and Councillor Dan McCreary of the City of Brantford.
