“Kids Can Fly lost a dear friend during the winter of 2018 with the sudden passing of Nancy Corke.
‘Nanc’ had been a part of the Kids Can Fly family for years; volunteering as a Roots of Empathy instructor, a support staff in the Parachute Program and Launch Pad and a participant in many of our events. She took such delight in interacting with young children and moms were drawn to her warm personality and the sincere caring she always generated. It was a personal joy for Nanc to have delivered the Roots of Empathy program a few years ago with her own daughter Kaitlyn and first grandchild, Rowan.
Nanc was a real ‘family’ person and taught us by her example that we should keep life simple and focus on what is really important. She and her husband Murray had two adult children, Kaitlyn and Jordon and three much loved grandchildren who will all miss her terribly but her loving spirit will always be felt.
On a personal level Nanc was a lifelong, dear friend to both Jane Flinders and myself. We will miss her dearly and think of her often – especially on snowy winter days. Her absolute favourite season!
