Sponsorship-Helps-Local-Children-Fall-in-Love-with-Reading

Join the Kids Can Fly League of Literacy Champions

Every child deserves the opportunity to discover the joy of reading. At Kids Can Fly, we believe that one of the most powerful ways to support a child’s future is by putting books into their hands from the very beginning.

That’s why we created the Kids Can Fly League of Literacy Champions—a community of local businesses, organizations, and individuals committed to ensuring children in Brantford and Brant County have access to free books through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.

What Is the League of Literacy Champions?

The League of Literacy Champions is a sponsorship program that helps fund Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, a globally recognized initiative that mails one free, high-quality book every month to children from birth to age five.

Every book delivered helps:

  • Build a child’s home library
  • Encourage daily reading routines
  • Strengthen language development
  • Prepare children for success in school
  • Create brighter futures for families across our community

Why Early Literacy Matters

Early literacy is about much more than learning letters and words. Children who are read to regularly develop stronger language skills, greater confidence, and are better prepared when they enter school.

Here in Brantford and Brant County, literacy challenges have contributed to graduation rates that are approximately 5% lower than the provincial average. Investing in early literacy today helps build stronger students, stronger families, and ultimately, a stronger community.

Research consistently shows that children with access to books in early childhood experience improved literacy outcomes, making programs like Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library one of the most impactful investments we can make.
