Changes to our spring/summer programming

This past year brought a lot of changes to our current programs, and we were both challenged and excited to switch our in person programs to virtual, as well as create new and exciting ways to support families and stay connected!

Now that the warmer weather has finally arrived, we will once again be making a few small changes.

  • The Hugs4NewMoms program which was created to support new moms who are experiencing parenting in a time of isolation and uncertainty will be coming to an end, with the last meeting being held virtually on Monday March 29.  Moms who have been participating in this group are welcome to join the Parachute program which will be continuing through the next few months.

  • The Parachute program is designed to support mothers in their first year of motherhood and provides a safe space to discuss the changes, joys and challenges with other facilitator Jane Flinders, other mothers and guest speakers.  This group has been meeting virtually on Wednesday afternoons, but will be meeting virtually on Tuesday mornings at 11:00 beginning April 6.

  • The Parachute group will be meeting outdoors once weather and social distancing policy allows.  Please request to join the Parachute Facebook group to stay up to date and engaged online.  We will post in person events on social media as well.

Please email jflinders@me.com or info@kidscanfly.ca with any questions to these changes.

Thank you to everyone who has participated and supported these changes.  We will continue as always to help, support and connect moms and families!

Knock knock, who’s there?!

Look outside!  It’s your favourite Storybook Breakfast characters coming to your house!

Our 14th Storybook Breakfast was a different one this year! With the social distancing protocols currently in
place, we had to be extra creative to find a way to create the fun and magic of this annual event in a safe
and responsible way. Our virtual event included distanced porch drop offs by beloved characters followed
by a virtual session with local author Werner Zimmerman who engaged the kids in fun and creativity.

Our volunteers have always been one of the main reasons this event is a huge success and this year was no
exception! They worked hard this year planning and dressing up to do deliveries. They brought the magic to the children just as they always do!

The joy and excitement that poured in the morning of the event affirmed that this was the perfect plan!

We are thrilled to announce that this event raised almost $25,000 for Kids Can Fly!

These funds will go directly into the work we do for children and families in the communities of Brantford and Brant.

Thank you to Longo’s Ancaster and Tim Horton’s Foundation camps for the donation of the food, to Findlay Law for the gift bags and containers and to Sylvan Learning Brantford for providing the books.

Thank you to Digital Duck for making this event virtual for us, and for all the work you put in behind the scenes to make this happen and to Leigh Dubay Graphic Design for creating the program this year.

And a huge thank you to all of our many sponsors!!  Many sponsors return year after year, and some are brand new.  We appreciate every single one of you and are so thankful for your support.

We don’t know what it will look like yet….but whether it is a breakfast or a picnic, we can’t wait for the 15th SBB in 2022!!
