Changes to our spring/summer programming

This past year brought a lot of changes to our current programs, and we were both challenged and excited to switch our in person programs to virtual, as well as create new and exciting ways to support families and stay connected!

Now that the warmer weather has finally arrived, we will once again be making a few small changes.

  • The Hugs4NewMoms program which was created to support new moms who are experiencing parenting in a time of isolation and uncertainty will be coming to an end, with the last meeting being held virtually on Monday March 29.  Moms who have been participating in this group are welcome to join the Parachute program which will be continuing through the next few months.

  • The Parachute program is designed to support mothers in their first year of motherhood and provides a safe space to discuss the changes, joys and challenges with other facilitator Jane Flinders, other mothers and guest speakers.  This group has been meeting virtually on Wednesday afternoons, but will be meeting virtually on Tuesday mornings at 11:00 beginning April 6.

  • The Parachute group will be meeting outdoors once weather and social distancing policy allows.  Please request to join the Parachute Facebook group to stay up to date and engaged online.  We will post in person events on social media as well.

Please email or with any questions to these changes.

Thank you to everyone who has participated and supported these changes.  We will continue as always to help, support and connect moms and families!

New virtual support program! HUGS4NEWMOMS starts April 13th!

Kids Can Fly recognizes the importance of family and community support of all new parents.

Because of social distancing, new parents of infants are circumstantially feeling very isolated right now.

We would like to harness our past best practices and allow the Parachute Program to create a sister program specifically designed to support and meet the needs of brand new parents during these times.

So we created HUGS4NEWMOMS!

This program will address weekly topics that new parents are concerned about and will be delivered to the group through a Zoom virtual format

Topics will include how to develop supports during social distancing, lactation and feeding your baby, self-care for mom, sleep (for both of you), how to deal with anxiety and many more

We will have expert guests such as public health nurses to answer your questions and hope to help everyone feel less alone

The group will begin meeting on Monday April 13 at 10:00 am and will take place each Monday until further notice

To join, please contact Jane Flinders at or 519-755-9482.  You can also contact us through our Kids Can Fly website or facebook page to obtain the Zoom login information

Our programs are closed….but we still want to help you have fun!

Due to the current Covid-19 situation and recommendations from professionals regarding social distancing, all of our face to face programs are currently closed.  This includes: Launch Pad, Parachute program, Roots of Empathy and Mothers in Mind.  We will post dates for re-opening once this information becomes available.

Please check our facebook and instagram pages for information on how to talk to your children about what is currently happening, parenting information on how to keep your family safe, and some fun activities to do with your children over the next couple of weeks.  Miss Jane will even be doing virtual musical circles just like at Launch Pad!

We realize the next few weeks will be difficult for a lot of families, and we want to be here to support you in any way we can…from a distance.

We look forward to seeing everyone face to face again, hopefully very soon!!
